My girls and I decided to take an impromptu girls trip to one of our favorite family-friendly resorts, Great Wolf Lodge here in Wisconsin Dells. We usually take an annual trip to the Dells during the off season or over a holiday.

Great Wolf Lodge offers amazing stay deals, but I usually find some of the best water park deals through Groupon! Groupon occasionally runs amazing deals for waterpark stays especially during school breaks (especially before and during summer). You can get packages for a great discount – I’ve seen packages that include hotel, water park passes, and gaming credit for the arcade.

Checking-in at Great Wolf Lodge

The girls and I checked in around 5pm (check in begins at 4pm) and the process was a breeze. I noticed a mobile check in line for pre-check in to make the process even quicker! We were greeted by the front desk, the girls were given two wolf ear headbands, wristbands for the water park and hotel room, an itinerary for events during our stay, and the food voucher I purchased for breakfast at the Lodge Wood Fire Grill.

Our Lone Wolf Sweet was very spacious! The suite includes two queen size beds, a sofa pull out, large table with two chairs, fireplace, two TVs, a small kitchenette, and a large bathroom. I was more than satisfied with this deal.

Great Wolf Attractions & Dining Options

We decided to get ready for the water park. The wristband I was given was so convenient as the band acts as a room key while out venturing the resort. The indoor water park was nice and warm while it was a little too cold for the outside park, we played for about an hour at most of the attractions. The indoor water park has an area for infants or smaller children, water slides with a lazy river, mini slides and obstacles, a gigantic wave pool, and a hot tub. The outdoor park includes a great area for all ages to play in, obstacles, a lower water area for smaller children, and tons of space for seating.

After playing at the water park, the girls and I decided to go back to our room and order delivery from another resort dining option, Hungry As A Wolf We ordered a family size Spaghetti & Meatballs pasta dish with a half-size Greek Fresh Made salad. That was a perfect amount of food for the three of us.

8:00pm came upon us and we were able to catch the evening story time in the Grand Lobby. The audience was packed with little ones of all ages dressed in their best pajamas. The girls loved listening to the story teller, Wiley the Wolf came out to join story time, and the kids were able to take individual pictures at the end. Our evening ended with a sweet treat from Bear Paw Sweets & Eats. I enjoyed my vanilla ice cream and an M&M brownie bar while the girls had Dippin’ Dots cotton candy ice cream.

The following morning we made our way to the Lodge Wood Fired Grill to redeem our “Wolf Wakeup Breakfast” voucher that I added on during online booking. The cost of the add on was $11.99/person and absolutely worth it! Breakfast was all you can eat. Additionally, we were able to catch the character appearances while we were eating and that was a ton of fun for the kids!

I highly recommend to make a reservation as the restaurant can get busy depending on the time of day. I didn’t make a reservation that morning and opted for a text when our table was ready. Even while waiting for our table there is always something fun to do, we stepped over for crafts in the Grand Lobby. Be sure to check out the daily events either on the paper agenda given during check out or directly on their website.
Other attractions we didn’t get to visit this time around were the fitness center, spa, or MagiQuest and ShadowQuest. We did a short stop by the arcade right outside of the indoor waterpark which the girls had a blast in. Load up a card with points, swipe the card to play, win tickets and redeem them for prizes!

Checking Out The Resort

Check out time at the resort is by 11:00am with an option for late check out at 2:00pm for an additional charge depending on the type of room you have. With all of the events going on at the resort, late check out doesn’t sound too shabby. Our overnight stay was a great as usual and we will certainly be back to stay. I highly recommend Great Wolf Lodge for families looking to spend some time in Wisconsin Dells. You won’t be disappointed!
